The far-right mayor of Lima, Jorge ‘Porky’ Muñoz, has announced his intention to run for president of Peru in the country’s next national election.

The controversial figure, known for his populist rhetoric and tough stance on crime, has pledged to restore public order and challenge what he calls political corruption.

Analysts say his candidacy could further polarize Peru’s already divided political landscape.
