Venezuela has announced it will investigate El Salvadoran officials over allegations of abuse against Venezuelan nationals held in the country’s mega prison.

The claims involve detainees deported from the United States who say they endured mistreatment during incarceration.

The probe adds a new layer of diplomatic tension between the two countries.
