Moderate Earthquake Strikes Offshore Guatemala
A 4.1 magnitude quake was detected early Sunday near the Pacific coast.
A moderate earthquake with a magnitude of 4.1 struck offshore Guatemala early Sunday, prompting brief concern in nearby coastal communities.
The tremor, centered in the Pacific Ocean, did not cause major damage or trigger tsunami warnings.
Seismologists say such activity is common in the region due to the tectonic interaction along the Cocos and Caribbean plates.
