El Salvador's Legislative Assembly has approved another 30-day extension of emergency security powers that have led to more than 92,000 arrests since 2022, a policy the government says has reduced the homicide rate to a historic low of 1.3 per 100,000 people despite continued criticism from international human rights organizations.
