Lawmakers in El Salvador have approved a fifty-first consecutive 30-day extension of the national state of exception, a security measure linked to more than 92,000 arrests of suspected gang members and a reported homicide rate of 1.3 per 100,000 people, amid continued human rights concerns over mass detention practices.
